Dallas Baptist University (DBU), competes in NCAA division II for all sports except baseball, which plays in Division l. The school keeps baseball at the highest level because the program is a self-sustaining regional powerhouse. 

Running a full D1 athletic department—especially adding and maintaining a competitive football team—requires tens of millions of dollars in funding that a smaller school like DBU does not have in its budget. 

Baseball operates on a smaller roster and budget scale, making it much more feasible to fund at a high level unlike football or basketball. 

The baseball program acts as the primary marketing engine for the entire university, frequently landing on national television during deep postseason runs. 

Even back in their NAIA and Division I eras, DBU had an elite, nationally respected baseball tradition. 

The program consistently produces major league talent and dozens of MLB draft picks, helping them attract top-tier recruits who want a DI stage. Notable DBU alumni include pitchers such as Colin Poche and Kody Funderburk have reached the big-league level. 

DBU recently joined the PAC-12 conference.
