The Atlanta Braves have acquired vet Tyler Mahle (31) from the San Francisco Giants, the teams announced Sunday.  

The Giants, who are looking to unload several veterans before the deadline, are receiving minor league pitcher Anthony Molina in the deal. 

Mahle will join an injury-ravaged rotation that is without Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach, and Reynaldo Lopez. 

Despite the setbacks, the Braves have remained in first place in the NL East since April 8 and currently hold an eight-game lead over the second place Philadelphia Phillies. 

In Molina, San Francisco acquired a 24-year-old right-hander with a fastball that sits at 97 mph and with experience as a starter and as a reliever. Molina made his major league debut with the Colorado Rockies in 2024. He has made three appearances with the Braves this season, logging a 5.40 ERA through five innings with two strikeouts. In Triple A, he has posted a 3.78 ERA in 17 outings, including nine starts over 52.1 innings. 

The Braves will be Mahle’s fifth major league club.
